This policy explains what information altScope, LLC (“altScope”, “we”, “us”) collects through altscope.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website. Work we do for clients is covered by the contract for that work.

Who we are

altScope, LLC is a software company registered in the United States. For any question about this policy or your information, email info@altscope.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address, and whatever you write in your message.

Information collected automatically. If you allow analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about your visit: pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (city or country, derived from your IP address), device and browser type, the site that referred you, and interactions such as scrolls, outbound clicks and form submissions. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.

Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, date and time) for security and to keep the site running.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, sensitive information such as financial account numbers, government ID numbers or health information through the contact form.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and discuss potential work with you
• To understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it
• To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse
• To meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent for analytics cookies; our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, running and securing the website; and steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract when you contact us about work.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

• Necessary: used by the site to work and stay secure, for example to remember your cookie choice and protect forms from spam. These do not require consent.
• Analytics (optional): Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that distinguish visitors and sessions. These are only set if you accept analytics cookies in the banner.

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are not tracked with analytics cookies unless they accept them.

Who we share it with

We use a few service providers to run the site and our business. They process information on our behalf and only for that purpose:

• Hostinger: website hosting and server logs
• Google Workspace: email, including messages sent from the contact form
• Google Analytics: website analytics, if you consent

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public. If altScope is involved in a merger or acquisition, information may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

International transfers

altScope works with clients remotely, and our service providers operate in several countries. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses offered by our providers.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries and related emails: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless they lead to a contract, in which case we keep them for the life of the contract and as required for legal and tax purposes
• Google Analytics data: 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically
• Server logs: for the period set by our hosting provider, typically up to 30 days

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have similar rights to know, correct and delete their information, and the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

To make a request, email info@altscope.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, and may need to confirm your identity first. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and up-to-date software. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This site is intended for businesses and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
